This is the most convenient GP for me to use as I am a student and will often be on campus. However, if it was not so I would almost certainly change to a different GP as I have had several appointments with a few different nurse practitioners who have been condescending, unhelpful, and at times plain rude. In one such visit, a nurse made me feel like an idiot for not knowing the correct term for a type of contraception and suggested that I was irresponsible for forgetting to take my pill. I find medical appointments cause me to get very anxious and as such raise my blood pressure considerably, making accurate blood pressure measurements a challenge, and yet it took several appointments before a practitioner suggested I use the machine in the waiting room to make it easier and less stressful. I have also had a nurse suggest that I did not understand that putting on weight was caused by a lack of exercise and overeating, as if I was an idiot, rather than an average person with sufficient brain capacity, and who asked me how I was going to fix my weight gain, as if I was a car that had broken down rather than a complex person with normal mental health and body image struggles (apparently the answer is 'maybe try a little exercise'; praise the lord, the weight-loss problem millions struggle with every day has been solved). I also dislike the nurse-led approach as it is not always appropriate, and has led to me having to attend several appointments with nurses before finally getting to see a doctor, something that I find very stressful due to my medical related anxieties, which get worse with every belittling, unhelpful nurse that I have to deal with. Every time I have been referred to the doctor, they have essentially solved my medical issue with a quick chat, making the long minutes spent with nurses who cannot diagnose my ailment seem completely pointless. The receptionists are usually quite good, although often take the time to chat with each other before seeing to patients.

I would suggest the Staff have been well trained. They are polite and very helpful. Have the knowledge to deal with your problem and direct you to the appropriate service that the Health Centre can provide. - just believe and have patience. How do I know this - I have been a Patient of the Practice since 1967!

The last time I came to the surgery it was with hope that someone could see me being outside the drop-in time, for me it was an emergency. Without hesitation I saw the nurse who forwarded me on to see the doctor. My feeling of relief was immense which I am sure helped me to feel much better anyway. This was, for me, not an isolated occurrence, I have always found friendliness, care and reassurance at all times.

I felt the nurse I saw did not listen to me and pushed me into a contraceptive method. The receptionist also gave me incorrect information about the storage of a prescription, which the pharmacist then had to correct. My appointment started 20 minutes late.

The nurse, Amy Taylor, was extremely professional, warm, and happy to answer any questions. It was an easy and stress-free experience.
